New year, new art: 2014 in pictures: January

Kia ora 2014. In January, Christchurch streets (and the Canterbury Museum) came alive with the Rise Festival kicking off a programme of art in the streets. It is the bright antidote to the grey of demolition and decay, even when it uses them as a canvas.

We went to the exhibition on New Year’s Day, and several times again.

The Arts Centre was a pressie.

And the Botanic Gardens were in luscious form. Hydrangeas, even beautiful reflected in the puddles.

And I enjoyed exploring the Museum and Christ’s College’s gargoyles and figures.
